So the question was asked how Gracie was doing with the adjustment and addition of Allisynn in our house. We were nervous that Gracie would be really jealous and mad at us for leaving her for three days, and for bringing this little baby (who needs all of our attention) into the house to STAY! We were really conscious of giving Gracie attention clear from the beginning. We tried to prepare her ahead of time for what was going to happen- as best as we could. We kept telling her Allisynn's name and showing her the nursery and talking about "Where's Allisynn?" We also gave her a little rag with baby lotion on it to smell. She loved that for a few days and then got bored with it. Then, when we were in the hospital, we sent home a onesie with my parents (who graciously kept Gracie for us- thanks mom and dad!- while we were in the hospital stay) that had some formula spilt on it, and had Allie's smell on it as well. They gave it to Gracie and their dog Kasie to smell. Gracie wanted nothing to do with it, but Kasie loved to bury her nose in it.

All this to say- that Gracie has done REALLY well. She acts almost scared of her. Every once in a while (pictures) she gets brave and for a few SECONDS will sniff Allisynn. She doesn't linger- just gives a quick sniff, and MAYBE a small tiny kiss on a toe and then is done with her. Today, Allisynn coughed or sneezed or something and Gracie got scared and worried about her and had to get up and come over to her to see if she was ok. Once she realized what she was doing, and that she was okay- she turned around and went back to lay down.

I'm sure they will be best of friends eventually. They are off to a good start.

We've been impressed with Gracie's attitude towards us as well. She still wants our attention and still treats us the same. Another praise! :) I was concerned about this, and worried it would be really hard if she was ignoring US too. Thankfully she hasn't! :)
