Firehouse Openhouse

We went to the fire department's open house last week. We wanted to show Allie the trucks and where the firefighters work- and see what it was like inside. :)
They had balloons, fire hats, coloring books, stickers, pencils, etc for the kids. They also had their trucks all out in the road infront of the fire house. :) It was neat to see them up close. It was also neat to explore the inside of the fire house. We got to see where their lockers are, how their uniforms are all set up and ready to go when they get a call, where they keep their big hoses all rolled up, the ambulance, etc. :) It was a  fun visit. Allie was scared to get too close to the trucks, but she was still very curious. :)

:( She was quite worried that there was a "sick person" in the ambulance... they were showing off their electric lift on the stretcher- she got all concerned... she wouldn't get closer.

This was neat! We got to show her how they fill up their tanker truck- with this hose and the way it goes into the truck. :)

They had this safety house- of course she was too scared, but when she gets bigger, hopefully we can encourage her to go through...They had it filled with smoke and taught them how to crawl low, and also let them practice climbing out of the trailer on a ladder- incase they would ever have to do it for real. It was a really neat little trailer! There was a fire fighter stationed there to help reassure the kids and help them!

Back in the van- all smiles- loving her new fire-fighter hat! :) And balloon! :)
