Story Time!

We decided to sign Allie up for Story time at the library.  She LOVES to listen to stories and read books. We figured this would be a great thing for her to be exposed to and saw that the new classes were starting. We called and got her in! :)  She goes on Tuesday evenings.  It is a class for two to five year olds.   We went to our first one this week.  

We made a fun evening out of it... we went to eat- "sies (fries) "milkshake" and "kickn nuggets".  She was so excited.  (Not sure about this particular expression... she did love it!) 

 We went to the library after we ate.  We had never taken her to the library before. She was in awe.  She loved it! It was a lot of stuff to take in at once.  She went in and got a name tag. She had some time before the story hour began, so she looked around with Daddy while mommy got her a library card. (yeah- her very own!)  :) She loved that just about as much as the library visit!!!! She was pumped! :) She kept asking all day if she could get one!
When it was time for story hour, we went to a little room and the lady started the program.

 Allie sat for a little bit, but soon wanted to touch the lady's toy and books. Then she wanted to crawl all around the room. The other children had been there before (or were extremely shy or well behaved) and so they just sat and listened. It took both of us to keep her sitting and even then, we didn't succeed.  Looking back, I think it was too much new- too fast.   She sat and listened a little, but it was hard.  We ended up taking her out of the room a couple times for breaks.  She picked out some books and we checked them out on her new card and then left. We will have to try the story time again next week... and the next week... and the next week.... she'll get used to it! :) We've been practicing the song that they sing with the sign language. :) It's good for her to be in a structured setting and for us to see how she reacts and what we need to work on with her. :) She'll be an old pro before long! :)

 She keeps asking if she can go back to the library, and she loves to look at her books we brought home... :) It was a fun experience, even if it didn't go perfect. :) Baby steps toward the right directions. :)
