On Sunday, Allisynn was dedicated at church. We had been wanting to have her dedicated before, but the timing never seemed to work out. It was kind of neat that it happened the same weekend that we were finalizing her adoption too! :) I was disappointed that our church doesn't do baby dedication in "big church" during the normal morning service anymore. I feel that it is a celebration that everyone should be embracing and be aware of.... after all- isnt there a saying that it takes a whole village to raise a child? Now it is done after the service, in an empty room with just the family present and the pastor. It was still special- and meaningful- but missing something I think. (And it isn't just because I want to show her off.... I think it should be a big deal for any newborn being dedicated. Jesus thought (thinks) that kids are a big deal- why shouldn't the church?)

Anyway... we had our families all present and they were there to support us. We promised to raise Allie in a Christian environment and teach her about Jesus and lead her towards a relationship with Him. This is important to us- as we know where we will spend eternity. We want our daughter to be there too- and to have Jesus as her friend forever! We know that that is the whole point of life. We also know that life isn't fair and it throws you some rough things sometimes- and that the only way to get through them and to grow from them is to cling to your faith and know that God is with you. We want all of that for Allisynn! We are thankful that we have the encouragement from family and friends to help us bring Allie up in the faith that is so important to us! That is why we wanted to have her dedicated. :)
